Profile

Transport geo-information professionally to the user

lat/lon provides services in the field of space-related and state-of-the-art internet supported information systems for more than 10 years.

Our occupation ranges from the software development and consulting to training and workshops. An interdisciplinary team consisting of earth scientists, geographers, computer scientists, engineers and management scientists links the technical know-how to the necessary and creative experience. lat/lon has been a member of the Open Geospatial Consortium right from the beginning and forms spatial data infrastuctures actively in the local sector, like on a state level or a federal level. Our aspiration is a coherent and interoperable infrastructure for the administration and for the exchange of spatial data and information.

lat/lon: adaption meets innovation

lat/lon focuses on open source when developing software. The deegree project stands for that – originated under the direction of us in cooperation with the University of Bonn. Furthermore we contribute to the expansion of national and international standards.
A crutial aspect: as distinguished from other providers we develop open source software for spatial information systems independently. We are able to link two areas with eachother in an optimal way: standard-based geo-information processing and individually adjusted solutions on the basis of free software - in short: adaption meets innovation!

Five plus points that go for us:

  • • independent development of open source software
  • • at the interface of standard and conception
  • • flexible project handling, customised investment range
  • • close connection to research and university (spin-off of the University of Bonn)
  • • longtime contractor of the public administration
